Story time

Slightly different from the usual posts, here is a fictional short story. I hope it will make you feel better if you are having a bad day or simply make you feel regardless.

A kitten with no name

It was a cold late afternoon. A kitten was trying to find shelter from the strong winds underneath a newspaper but she soon saw her newfound house off as the weather worsened. The kitten didn't have a name, no one bothered to give her one. Sometimes people on the street would call her different names, but she found it very confusing to remember. Her paws were almost numb from the constant walking around, looking for somewhere to sleep. She saw a dog on the other side of the park, playing with his owner. She couldn't help but feel her little heart filling with jealousy as she saw the human running around, laughing loudly, followed by the enthusiastic dog. She wanted that too, but she was alone, her paws weak and weary and herself tiny and half an ear less than other kitties.
When she was about to give up and snooze next to a bin, she saw a tiny human approaching, followed by a big human. She thought it was strange that the tiny human didn't make any noise, since the whole city was loud and children especially loved screaming and shouting. She bent down to see her, which scared the kitten a little bit, but she put on a brave face. After a minute of her smiling at the little cat, she turned around to the big human and they started moving their arms and hands really quickly, without any noise. The kitten was fascinated and confused by what was happening at the same time. The big human finally nodded and the tiny human excitedly moved closer to the kitty, who let her pick her up. As the two humans started moving with her, the kitten remembered that she still didn't have a name. But this time, it didn't matter, because she got something more important tonight. A family.
